Your plan
The settings to paste, a notice ready to send for each look-alike worth reporting, a note for your customers, and how to read the reports when they start arriving.
The plan lists exactly where a business is weak. We aren't willing to hand that to a stranger about somebody else's company. So there are two ways to show us it's yours, and you only need one: a code we email to an address at your domain, which takes a minute and needs nothing technical, or a DNS record, if you or whoever looks after your website would rather. Both are free.
Your address has to be at that domain. It is how a payment gets matched to the business it is for, and it means nobody can buy work on a company that is not theirs.
Either one is enough. They prove the same thing and both are free.
We send six digits to an address at your own domain. Whoever reads mail there is the business, which is the same thing your bank decides when it texts you a code. Nothing to install, nothing to change.
It has to be an address at the domain itself, not a Gmail or Outlook one. That is the whole proof. If your business mail is somewhere else, use the DNS record instead, or tell us and a person will sort it out.
Wherever your domain lives (GoDaddy, Porkbun, Cloudflare, Namecheap, your web person), add one TXT record. It affects nothing: no mail, no website. You can delete it once we have seen it.
Nearly every control panel adds your domain to the name box for you, so type on its own. If yours asks for the whole thing, use . We accept either, and we also catch it if the domain ends up in there twice.
One question, and it earns its place: your line of work tells us which services probably send mail using your name. That list is the hardest part of doing this safely, and the plan will name the usual ones for you.
Watching someone lose a business over an afternoon's work isn't a business model. So the finding, the plan and the tools are free and stay free. If the work is more than you want to carry, that's what we charge for.
A page on this site that tells your customers how to know a message is really from you: the address you email from, that you will never send new payment details, and the number to call. Yours to link from your email signature and your contact page. It is free, it stays up, and only somebody who has proved they own can publish one.
This one needs the DNS record. Your plan is private and a mailbox at your domain is proof enough for it. This page is public and speaks in your name, so we ask for the stronger proof before we will put it up: plenty of people have an address at a company they do not speak for. Go back to step two, choose Add a DNS record, and the form appears here. It is the same five minutes, and you can delete the record afterwards.
Now that is proven yours, these are the ways to pay for it. Everything above stays free either way.
Each one is tied to this domain and the address you verified with, so the payment arrives attached to the right business.
You can delete the TXT record once the plan is built. Keep it if you would rather we could re-check for you later. If you get stuck at any point, write to hello@copycatcheck.com and a person will answer.
